Ms. Sungjo Jo is our new music teacher this year. Ms. Jo was born in Korea and moved to Argentina with her family when she was 10. She attended elementary, middle and high school in Argentina. She then attended college in the States before she started to teach music.

Three years ago, Ms. Jo moved back to Korea with her father, so that she could take care of him. Ms. Jo started her new teaching journey at Jeju International School for two years. The title “International Christian School” caught Ms. Jo’s attention.

Read the exclusive interview below:

So far, how’s ICSU?

I love the students here, the best students I’ve encountered in my teaching life! The students here are very teachable, and they are all passionate about music and very responsible! Good good students.

Ms. Jo shared her favorite verse: 2 Corinthians 4:17, “For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison,” (ESV).

What brought you to ICSU?

The very first thing that drew me to ICSU was that it was a Christian school. I also like the climate and the area.

What are your goals in the music department at ICSU?

My goal in the music department at ICSU is to expand on music with more high school students as well as to start an orchestra program.

What is your favourite style of music? Classical music.

What is your favourite bible verse? 2 Corinthians 4:17 - "For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all compassion."
