Words from Coach Isaac Jeong and Captain John Yoon after ICSP game

The boys volleyball team has obtained their first game a victory over ICS Pyeongtaek 3:1.

Coach Jeong felt happy after the game, “I felt extremely happy to see both the boys and girls team win our first official season game," he said. "After I came home and watched our game video, I started to plan my future practice schedules because now I have a clearer picture of what each athlete needs to focus on in order to be a better volleyball player.”

Coach Jeong praised the middle blockers. “If I had to pick two, then it would be my two middle blockers, Joshua and Sean. Sean is a great athlete. He is positive, always willing to hustle during practices, and he is the one who would be encouraging all the players during the game. I love to see him do that as an assistant captain. But more than that, I saw some incredible fast attacks from Sean during the game. It wasn’t just a fast-roll-over-the-net type of hit, but an actual kill. Same thing with my other 6 feet 2 athlete, Joshua. He is tall, but he just started to play volleyball this year. However, he had some solid blocks and spicy hits throughout the game. Of course, both of these athletes need lots to improve; however, I would like to praise these two middle blockers who fully did their job on that day!”

Captain John Yoon praises Timur Kim (7) and Michael Marra (9), “The two people I want to praise are Timur and Micheal. Timur, a 7th grader who has never played volleyball, adapted so quickly to the team and learned volleyball so fast that everyone was shocked. I think he also played the game very well, having lots of aces and good serves. I also congratulate Michael because he is a high school freshman who didn't really get lots of game time, but when he got his chance against ICSP, he took the chance and played very well and had lots of kills.”

Thoughts on next game

“I am excited for our next game against DCS. It will be our second home game, and I am sure that a lot more people will come and cheer! I not only hope that our individual skill will grow as we play, but also our team work will grow as a team,” said Coach Jeong.

“The next game is on 9/16 against DCS (Dulwich College School). I believe that they are a good team and will be a tough challenge for us, but I think enough practice and enough conditioning will help us get better and beat them. However, we have to improve a lot and look at our mistakes against ICSP,” said Captain John.
